Welcome to the latest incarnation of my presence on the web. This version is a vast improvement over my previous site. It is now implemented with Drupal, so I can finally offer handy features like comments and user accounts, a search bar, and dynamic content presentation. I can't really claim much credit for these changes - I would like to thank my good friend Joe a.k.a. idlehero for helping me set it all up, and by that I mean, doing pretty much all the work.
Do you think the picture on the left looks smarmy and pretentious? I sure do. That's a picture of my first car and I enjoying the burned-out ruin of the 99 cent store in Pendleton during my senior year of highschool. I miss that car.
There's a more recent picture on the right. It was taken in early Fall 2005. I probably look different now. I might be bald. Depends on how long it has been since I last decided to shave my head rather than go to the effort of getting a haircut. If it's been a while, I might even look like this. Only if I've had a bad day, though.
This site is primarily meant to be a place on the web to toss up descriptions of my various projects and maybe my resume. I tend to tinker alot. I like to build things. I also like to un-build them, so expect to see a bunch of teardown reports here too.
I received my BS in computer engineering at Oregon State University in 2006. With that I landed a fairly awesome R&D electrical engineering position at a large technology company in Corvallis, Oregon. I enjoy my job, my coworkers, and of course, my newfound ability to afford a diet that does not consist solely of rice and ramen noodles. My only complaint is that I find myself with much less time on my hands than I used to; therefore I do a lot less tinkering. The result is the miserably low rate of updates to this site.
I do occasionally build projects with an actual intent to sell them. Sometimes I do simple repair work on computers and consumer electronics. In both circumstances I do business as my "company," Flying Sparks Electronics. My middle name is Sparks. My projects sometimes emit sparks. More often they emit smoke, but "Flying Smoke" doesn't make much sense. When I was in highschool I would release software items under the name SImmoralTech (short for "Slightly Immoral Technologies," an old inside joke between some friends of mine; perhaps it gives the wrong impression...)

I like my business card. I got 250 of them for free from VistaPrint. The only catch is that the back of the card has a small VistaPrint logo.
