pink tip on a magnetron

I have been told the pink ceramic tip is an insulator of some kind. I'm not 100% what it is for exactly. The one thing that I do know for sure that it is super toxic. It contains berillium. Berillium is one of the most carsangenic (not sure if thats spelled right)substances on the planet.
